Malediven, das Paradies aus Erden

December 29, 2012 Posted by admin

News bulletin: Facebook buys Instagram!

December 25, 2012 Posted by admin

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has announced via Facebook post that they have purchased the extremely popular photo-sharing app called instagram. Instagram was purchased on Monday for a staggering $1 billion, using a combination of cash and stocks. By the end of this quarter, the sale is expected to close, making this photo-sharing experience a part of the social network.

Zuckerberg is excited to be able to work closer with the Instagram team. He has made a point to state, however, that Facebook will continue to grow, using Instagram’s strengths to build the app independently, instead of trying to fuse everything with Facebook. Instagram’s features will still allow you to use the app to publish your photos on other social networks, such as twitter and Google+, so that friends that do not have a Facebook will not be left out of the photo-sharing opportunity.

What this means for you and your Facebook, is that your newsfeed will now be flooded with vintage-inspired pictures and photographs, which is good if you appreciate the new look and enjoy looking at people’s pictures. On the other hand, it would be considered bad if you’ve done your best to avoid instagram in its entirety.
While you may not be completely onboard yet, the future for mobile photo-sharing is about to get better, as well as your mobile app for Facebook itself. Zuckerberg has stated that he understands people’s frustrations with the bugs associated with the mobile Facebook app, and is looking forward to working hand-in-hand with the Instagram team to clean up the mobile app, making it more user-friendly, and less buggy.

As far as Instagram users go, the company has stated that they will keep the features that allow you to share your snapshots separately, so that not all of your pictures end up on your Facebook newsfeed. Facebook and Instagram both understand your privacy, and are looking to keep you instead of steer you away. So instead of jumping ship, stick around and see what this merge has to offer you!

Having an unforgettable diving in the Maldives

December 20, 2012 Posted by admin

Having an unforgettable diving in the MaldivesThe first dive was at Five Rocks, before breakfast. Barracudas, a Napoleon, a Turtle and pretty Nudibranches really was nothing compared to what the group was to encounter later, after breakfast as the boat came into the vicinity of a Whaleshark.  The 6 meter long beauty stayed with the group for about half an hour, allowing them to admire its majesty while snorkeling. The crew also met with Lorenzo, Nadia and Luca from the previous week’s trip, admiring the shark.

The second dive was on the outer reef of Maamigili Island, known as the Maamigili Beyru dive spot. The group got lucky again as they came across a whaleshark not once but thrice. The great moment of the third day was at the third dive at Rahdhigga Thila where Grey Reef Sharks and White Tip Sharks circled the group for a few minutes before being joined by three very large Dogtooth Tuna, who caused mayhem and had the fish swimming in all directions. The geography of the dive site also was fantastic, with soft coral overhangs while the top of the reef had some very healthy Tabletop Coral and three turtles seeking sanctuary in it.

While the divers were seeing all this, the boat crew was hard at work, preparing the Rahdhigga Island with a Barbecue Dinner, and a Sandcastle in the shape of a Whaleshark to remind the divers of their fantastic encounter earlier that day. Read more about diving safari.

Facebook Expands With Purchase Of Instagram

December 16, 2012 Posted by admin

When Instagram started about two years ago and eventually expanded to a team of about a dozen employees, the company certainly did not figure that it would be associated with Mark Zuckerberg and his Facebook empire. Well apparently that vision has come true and on Monday it was announced that Zuckerberg and Facebook purchased Instagram for the sum of $1 billion. The news of the purchase set off a frenzy across the business world as perspective Facebook stock buyers seen dollar signs in their eyes and word that Instagram’s 30 million users being upset over the deal.

When the news came out that Facebook had purchased the young Instagram, a site that allows users to take pictures and let users to send them to fellow users in unique formats, the first thing that came to people’s mind was that Facebook stock will be more lucrative when it becomes an initial public offering later on in the year. Instagram users though have taken a different approach and made their voices known on Twitter and said that with the purchase by Facebook that it will ruin the format that Instagram is already known for and there have even been some Instagram users that are saying that they are closing their accounts and they do not want to have any association with Facebook and any kind of merging with that site.

Facebook CEO Zuckerberg was quick on the defensive about the purchasing of Instagram and he stated that there will not be any kind of merging of the sites and that he plans on keeping Instagram the way that it is and that the two sites will be two enitriely different entitites. Instagram users though are thinking different and are blaming Zuckerberg as a money hungry businessman that is trying to take over the internet. Only time will tell as to whole this will all play out.
